Antonio Volpicelli opened Don Antonio Trattoria in Larkspur in 2015 and joined forces with the Gary Dowd, Gary Chappell and Mark Michna in 2024. Larkspur is an impossibly picturesque and charming town in the heart of Marin nestled at the base of Marin County's spectacular Mount Tamalpais and transports you to the majestic seaside cliffs of southwestern Italy complete with outdoor dining in a lovely setting.

Antonio Volpicelli brings his virtuoso culinary talents from Naples to Marin.
A native of Naples, Antonio Volpicelli grew up not in a kitchen but on a football (soccer) field: a professional "footballer," his sporting career was brought to a shattering halt, quite literally, when he broke his kneecap at the age of 18. Although undoubtedly heartbreaking for the eager Volpicelli, this setback would eventually prove to be to the culinary benefit of all Marin County and the surrounding San Francisco Bay Area.
When Volpicelli launched Don Antonio in Larkspur in 2015, it proved a welcome, resounding success in an area infamous for its high restaurant attrition rate. Don Antonio's has consistently been one of the most beloved Italian restaurants in Marin. In January of 2024 Antonio partnered with Gary Dowd, a Larkspur native, Gary Chappell and Mark Michna and the four passionate partners are working together to continue building the best Italian restaurant in Marin.
